Synopsis

A New Era. An Ancient Faith. A Compelling Invitation.

Catholicism is once again capturing hearts―and headlines. From a surprising surge in Gen Z conversions to a growing movement of college students entering the Church, a spirit of renewal is taking hold. Against this backdrop of cultural reawakening―marked by the historic election of an American pope and the canonization of the first millennial saint―Why I Am Catholic (and You Should Be Too) offers a bold and deeply personal response to one of today’s most urgent spiritual questions: Why are people embracing Catholicism now?

Brandon Vogt―senior publishing director for Bishop Robert Barron’s Word on Fire Catholic Ministries―once identified as “spiritual but not religious,” a label familiar to many millennials. But while studying mechanical engineering at Florida State University, his restless search for truth brought him―unexpectedly and powerfully―into the heart of the Catholic Church.

In this accessible and engaging book―which has sold more than 70,000 copies―Vogt shares his own conversion story and presents a compelling, twenty-first-century case for Catholicism. Drawing on the wisdom of great Catholic thinkers―G. K. Chesterton, St. John Henry Newman, St. Teresa of Calcutta, Peter Kreeft, and Bishop Barron―he explains how the Church, even with its imperfections, offers the most meaningful answers to life’s biggest questions. Vogt explores how Catholicism is true, good, and beautiful by addressing such topics as:

  • How we know God exists
  • Who Jesus really is
  • How religion makes us happier and healthier
  • The Church’s essential role in shaping Western civilization
  • The deeper meaning behind the Church’s teachings on sex and marriage
  • The healing power of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Why beauty and art matter in the life of faith

Whether you’re wrestling with doubts, rediscovering your faith, or simply curious about what’s drawing so many to the Church, Why I Am Catholic speaks directly to the spirit of renewal stirring today. Vogt reveals Catholicism not as a relic of the past, but as a radiant, living faith for the future.
