Synopsis

Welcome to THE ART OF MURDER, a world of high-class art theft, museum high-jinx, high-powered money brokers, foreign intrigue, and, of course, murder. This weighty, smartly plotted little novel is an inventive, intelligent, and hugely entertaining genre-buster--a spirited send-up with contemporary dimensions unusual in noir. It'ss an imaginative blend of sphincter-clenching suspense, clever dialogue, and comic observation. A hard-boiled narrator with a soft-boiled way, Nestor Pike'ss indomitably intuitive character and ever-resourceful wit drives this irresistible page-turner right through the heart from beginning to end. You laugh, you cry, you love these guys. This tale has it all, action, mystery, romance, and transformation. THE ART OF MURDER is distributed through Biblio Distribution, Ingram, and Baker & Taylor.

From the Back Cover

It was late Friday. Nestor Pike sat with his feet propped on his desk, sipping
bourbon and browsing the L.A. Times. Headlines: "Carter Lee Hollenbeck
III, Trustee at the Renowned Getty, Crushed by Kouri." As he turned the
page for details, two pinstriped thugs oozed into his office. They warned
him off their business and promptly beat the crap out of him.
What business?Whose business? And why him? The action doesn't stop until
he shoots a couple bad guys, breaks a couple sweet hearts, and solves some
ugly murders. But don't get the wrong impression; you'll love this mystery.
There's depth of heart in its soul and emotional meat on its bones.
Married to Shirley Pulaski, artist, waitress, a woman whose very look instills
optimism in every man, Nes is deeply troubled since the murder of their
son. The risk of losing Shirl has made him hesitant. Second-guessing can
get them both killed. Will Nes get past his son's death before his life falls
apart, or someone else he loves gets killed? You laugh, you cry, you love these
guys. This tale has it all--action, mystery, romance, and transformation.
