Author Philippe de Vosjoli provides straight-forward guidelines — illustrated with over 150 photos — to selecting and caring for your very own crested gecko, from handling, heating, and housing to feeding, life cycle, sexing, and breeding.

You'll discover the five stages of the crested gecko life cycle as well as how and when to properly identify the reptile's sex or gender. Learn about the color changes and morphs of your reptile, illustrated with photographs of unusually colored crested geckos. One of the most interesting features of crested geckos is that they are polychromatic, naturally producing a wide range of colors and patterns. You'll discover the different color and pattern types from bright red, orange, and yellow morphs to brindle, harlequin, pinstriped, and more.

Crested geckos are easy to house, have lower temperature requirements than many other reptiles, and are naturally tame. With the proper setup and precautions, you can even take weekend vacations and safely leave your crested gecko at home for two to three days without having to resort to a pet-sitter. Explore important supplies and different enclosures from terrariums to tanks, heating and lighting options, recommended plants, and general cage maintenance options. Discover the best kinds of food for your pet from crickets and pureed foods to powdered Crested Gecko Diet. You'll also learn about the importance of always making water available and keeping their habitat the perfect level of humid.

A dedicated chapter on diseases and disorders offers solid information on the health needs of your rewarding reptile, including recognizing signs of disease, tail loss, and pelvic deformities. For crested gecko keepers looking to expand their home populations, a chapter on the Rhacodactylus species describes five species with similar requirements despite their significantly different appearances, from the medium-sized knobby-headed gargoyle gecko to the giant Rhacodactylus leachianus.
