Can't Can be Done is the life story about a young boy whose parents died while he was very young. He grew up in an orphanage where kids went to school one half-day and worked a half-day, in this way the kids were about 50% self-supporting. While there he learned how to do everything that was asked of him. There was nothing that he could not do. While still in high school he was usually given a team of boys to accomplish some task and he had to resolve all the problems they faced in completing the task. An example was to put a roof on a room of a house that had the walls but no ceiling or roof structure. Using mathematics he studied in high school he figured out how to cut the rafters and the boys put the roof on the house and ceiling in the house under his supervision. After graduation from high school he joined the U. S. Navy to get the WWII GI bill for college. He went to the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a BSEE in 1955 and was invited to join the Tau Beta PI engineering honorary society and the Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honorary society. His first job in 1955 after graduation was with Convair in the Atlas Missile development program. He was transferred to Florida for the flight test program of the Atlas intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) starting in January 1957. As a young engineer of 32 years old he was asked to go to Cheyenne, WY as the Chief Engineer because the installation of the Atlas ICBMs were behind schedule, over running cost and doing a poor technical job. While doing all this he earned a Master of Science in Management (MSM) and a Doctor of Business Administration degree. These are just some of the Can't be done tasks that Calvin changed to Can be done. At 84 years old there is still nothing that Calvin can't do.
