About the Author:

Dr. Suggs has published extensively on the Marquesas and Polynesian prehistory. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia University. He carried out the first archeological excavations in the Marquesas Islands for the American Museum of Natural History. N.Y. in 1956-8 and has returned to the Marquesas and other island groups of the South Pacific many times since. He also had a lengthy career in the government and the military.

Burgl Lichtenstein is a Swiss travel author and lecturer. Following university graduation and a career in business adminstration, she became a world traveler. She has written of her wandering through Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas and the Pacific. But of all the places she has visited, only the Marquesas archipelago has truly captured her heart, and will always call her back.
