Daniel Sweetwater is a sixteen year old Delaware Indian living with his preacher father among the Cherokee Indians. They are forced to march with the last remnants of the Cherokee nation on a one thousand mile journey from their homes in Georgia to a reservation in the Oklahoma Territory. Cruel men and harsh weather make Daniel's journey a treacherous one. His faith in God is shattered by the pain of injustice and bitterness fills his heart. But God provides hope. Daniel makes friends with two people who change his view of the white man: a wise old frontiersman and a young woman who befriends him. However, unexpected tragedy and the opportunity for revenge cloud his heart once more. With retribution only a knife's blade away, Daniel is faced with a choice. Will he follow a dark trail of vengeance? Or will he follow the truth that lights his path and release a special mercy hidden within his Christian heritage? Beneath the Sky of an Angry God is the first book in t! he Discovery historical fiction series that follows the lives and adventures of young people over several generations. Like Daniel, they struggle to make their way in growing and changing 19th century America and to triumph amid the century-long spiritual conflicts that have shaped our nation past and present.

About the Author:
John and Mark live in Manassas, Virginia. In addition to writing The Century War Chronicles Freedom and Discovery Series, they are the co-authors of Bloodlines, a historical fiction novel for high school readers and adults. From pre-Civil War America to the modern day, this fast-paced and thrilling story follows the lives of the MacDonald family who are called to contend with unseen powers of evil drawing bloodlines through history. Rich with historical detail, Bloodlines offers fresh insight into our nation's spiritual conflicts, past and present, while inspiring its readers to overcome life's deepest disappointments and to find faith in God.
Review:
Since I do a lot of critical reading, I am not easy to impress, but your writing is refreshing for three reasons. First, it is clearly and unashamedly Christian in content. Second, your writing is both historically acurrate and contemporarily relevant. Third, I find a unique blend of insightful opinion, life-like characters, and realistic situations that compel me to turn the page. I can, without reservations, recommend your books to my friends. -- Eve Barner, homeschooled twelfth-grader, Purcellville, VA
