About the Author:
Doris Kinzie (Puckett) was born on October 1, 1931 in the town of Catawissa, Pennsylvania. When just three weeks old her parents moved to Ashland, PA which became her hometown. Doris enjoyed great popularity among her peers in high school and at age 16, she gave her life to Christ. After high school and business college, she enrolled in what is now Philadelphia Biblical University where she met and fell in love with Larry Puckett, a young man from Tennessee who shared her deep devotion to Christ. While at the Bible Institute, both Doris and Larry felt God's call to the Indians of Mexico. Nothing about their comfortable life styles while growing up could have prepared them for the life they chose when they obeyed God's call to the mission field.
Review:
In The Hollow Of His Hand is a book born out of the lives of two people who most likely will never be recognized by the world for all that God has done through them. It should be read by every Christian who seeks to truly serve our Lord because it deals with the reality of God in the midst of everyday situations as well as extraordinary situations. This book exalts the sovereignty of God in the lives of believers and it magnifies the love of God in the hearts of those who keep on believing. Larry and Doris are the kind of people who exemplify this life of faith. Through these pages, you will see and feel the burden of the missionary, and you will experience the intervention of God in their midst. Your faith will be challenged to a higher level, your confidence in the sufficiency of the Lord Jesus will be deepened, and your admiration for people who pay the price to serve with such devotion will soar. --George H. Harris, D.D., D.Min., D.Lit., Former Pastor of Castle Hills Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas
This is a book that should be read by all mission field candidates. It is not a manual nor a book of tips or instructions; nevertheless, I am sure reading it will expand your vision of a lost world and strengthen the faith you must have in the midst of the battle. It is a testimony that will challenge even the strongest Christians and will enhance the spiritual lives of all believers. As you read, you will be transported back to a world much like ones we have read about in pioneer missionary stories about Africa, China, or India hundreds of years ago. We have been impacted by the experiences of Adoniram Judson David Livingston, Hudson Taylor, and many others as they battled against poverty, sickness, superstition, idolatry, and even witchcraft. Their stories took us back to fields far from civilization - third world countries still ruled by ignorance and satanic forces. This book will take you to similar situations, but right in the middle of the twentieth century, in the country of Mexico, next door neighbor to the United States. --Rene Zapata, B.A., M.A. Pastor and Evangelist, Mexico and Central America
