A Change of Plans is a collection of eleven narratives by women who have experienced hemorraghic strokes. The author herself experienced a stroke as a young girl. As she recovered and grew into adulthood, she thought deeply about the silence that has surrounded her experience and the psychic trauma she wasn't allowed to talk about. She also wondered about other women who had suffered strokes. Those who share their voices in this collection do so openly and movingly, telling about their experiences, recoveries and how the strokes helped shape their lives.
