About the Author:

Don Crawford was born in 1926, the second youngest of four boys and two girls, and was brought up on the family farm on the Fifth Line of Bathurst, west of Perth, Ontario. He left home at sixteen, and for many years wandered the country working at whatever came his way, including a stint in the Canadian Army. A gifted storyteller, these experiences provided the fodder for "Stories that Missed the Headlines," a column that appeared in The Perth Courier for more than two decades. Don eventually returned to Perth-"the prettiest place I've seen in all my travels"--and with his wife Terri, raised four daughters. He passed away in 2000.
