One hundred and forty-four years later, wealthy, single businessman Stokely Towles breaks a leg and pauses from his schedule to recover from surgery. To take his mind off the pain he begins researching his family history. It isn’t long before he comes across the name of Henry Vallandingham, who was murdered in a small town in Missouri in 1856. Strange dreams guide Stokely to find out what really happened. In the process, he meets attractive Ariadne Edwards, an agent of the DEA, who is tracking flows of drug money in the same area. A gang of bullies resents Stokely and Ari and tries to drive them out of town. They succeed for a time, but Stoke manages to outwit them and to untangle the web of events that led to his ancestor’s death.

Retired from many years in manufacturing (ending as vice president of the Bobrick Corporation), Tom had a lucky break in 1991. He fell up some stairs and broke both legs. While recovering from surgery he began to think about family history stories his mother and grandmother told him, and of his promise to record them one day.
With hobbies in genealogy and history, and the ability to visit the homes of his great grandparents in Kentucky, Tom has collected many stories and has unraveled two murder mysteries, of which A Time to Heal is one. He is currently a contributing editor to Heritage Quest magazine, and lives with his wife, Evie (a teacher), in Arcadia, CA.
