"Jim Whitworth's first wife was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Propelled by the lack of information on the disease that led to his wife's plunging into severe dementia and subsequent demise in 2003, he co-founded the now nationally known Lewy Body Dementia Association (http://lbda.org). ||In 2005, he married Helen Whitworth, a retired nurse with training and writing experience. Together they author The Thistle, the LBDA newsletter. They also teamed up to present classes on LBD to dementia care staff, volunteers, caregivers and the general public Riding the Roller Coaster with Lewy evolved from these classes. ||Lewy Body Dementia is the second leading cause of degenerative dementia in the elderly.
