About the Author:
Philip Plisson created with his wife, Marie-Brigitte, the company Pêcheur d'Images, and is the most well-known French marine photographer. He is passionate about the sea, and easily communicates his enthusiasm for all he sees, all he does, and all he photographs. He is privileged to have the title of "Peintre de la Marine", and despite his many assignments and books, is always looking for new photographic adventures. He has received many awards: Chevalier dans l'Ordre du Mérite Maritime, Prix de l'Académie de Marine, Prix du Cercle de la Mer, Médaille d'argent du Tourisme, Membre bienfaiteur de la S.N.S.M.

Guillaume Plisson is 26 years old and is following in the footsteps of a famous father. He has photographed the start of many yacht races from his inflatable zodiac, but equally enjoys creating an audio-visual show on his computer or photographing an important shipyard anywhere in the world.

Daniel Charles has seen most of the lighthouses of this book during his voyaging and is a naval architect and historian. He is mainly known as a journalist and has contributed to "Voiles et voiliers" and magazines worldwide. He has been involved in about twenty books. In 1995 and 1998 his books were awarded "Best Nautical Book of the Year" in France. Recognized as a world authority on yachting history, Daniel works for the French Ministry of Culture and for the Ministry of Maritime Heritages.
