Synopsis

For the first time, the corpus of classical Latin authors from the Bibliotheca Teubneriana will be available on an electronic platform. With the publication of three installments, the electronic Bibliotheca Teubneriana Latina will contain nearly all Latin editions of the Bibliotheca Teubneriana. It will also contain currently out-of-print editions from the last forty years and standard editions of the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
The first installment of the Bibliotheca Teubneriana Latina (BTL 1) contains the works of the Roman authors of the Republic and Empire until 200 C.E. Works by almost 200 Roman authors and approximately 100 works from anonymous authors are included on the CD-ROM. BTL1 offers classicists a wide array of both well-known and more obscure authors and titles, including important later works from non-Christian authors. Researchers will also find a wide array of subject writing within the tradition of Classics, such as drama, oratory, politics, philosophy, and history.
Unlike traditional presentations, the complete BTL on CD-ROM will allow the researcher to search the entire body of Latin literature using diverse search criteria. The CD-ROMs perform sophisticated searches in a matter of seconds, also enabling the user to locate desired information within specific literary spheres or time periods. BTL 2 and 3 will be available in 2001and 2003, respectively.
