The book examines economic opportunities and differentiation among the agro-pastoral households in Southern Keiyo, in the three ecological zones - the highland, escarpment and the valley floor. The central theme of the book is that socio-economic processes in these areas are the product of inter-relationships of history, culture and environment. The aim of the households across and within the three zones is to improve their living standards. Taking a descriptive and analytical approach, the chapters demonstrate how households have embraced diversification of economic activities as the most common strategy in pursuing development. It is envisaged that the issues dealt with in this book, will find a fertile ground of appreciation from academicians, researchers, policy makers, non-governmental organizations, postgraduate and undergraduate students.
