This research work on Nigeria's internal conflicts and measures to combat them has so far in the discussion identified that ethnic minority tensions and agitations are important features of the on going struggles to resolve the “Nigeria’s National Question” which has so far bothered on ethnicity, equitable allocation of scarce resources, justice, religion and others. The study has attempted to explore the fundamental contours and dimensions of contemporary ethnic minority problems in Nigeria through narrative profiles of most incidences and stance of most Nigeria’s initial conflicts and agitations, which have so far bearing on the campaign for economic restitution and ecological rehabilitation especially by the oil-bearing communities in the Niger Delta, and the struggle for self determination and cultural integrity by non-Hausa/Fulani communities of the Northern Nigeria. The research has discovered that, Nigeria’s internal conflicts are deeply rooted in complex historical and structural processes of pre-colonial and colonial incorporation and consolidation of diverse ethnic segments, federal territorial evolution and reorganization, revenue allocation and political competition.
