ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
A work that proposes a civic agenda for Mexico based on combating impunity, corruption, and the violation of civil rights; on the reform of political parties and representation; and on the defense of minorities and of the wretched majority composed by consumers.
In Only Thus: Towards an Independent Civic Agenda, Jorge Castañeda proposes a critical reflection focused on the themes that are fundamental to carrying out the political changes that Mexico needs.
In Mexico today, the system urgently needs an independent candidate for president, one outside the system; outside the party politics; untangled in the web of complicity, corruption, or acceptance of corruption; removed from the omissions and commissions in matters of human rights; and outside the open or tacit acceptance of impunity. An advancement that at once represents an imperative to grow, distribute, educate, and protect.
Jorge Castañeda suggests a civic agenda devoted to these topics because, unlike fundamental goals like growth, reducing inequality, and combating poverty and violence, which political parties all take on and try to reach, only an independent candidate to the presidency can take ownership of these other demands and concentrate on achieving them, especially now, while facing the evident and unprecedented national rejection of the political class.
