The final book by Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky is titled The Brothers Karamazov. Written over almost two years, Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov was serialized in The Russian Messenger from January 1879 to November 1880. Less than four months after its release, Dostoevsky passed away. It has been hailed as one of the greatest works of literature in history.
The Brothers Karamazov is a passionate philosophical novel that explores issues of God, free will, and morality. It is set in 19th-century Russia. It has also been called a theological drama with a plot centered on patricide that addresses issues of faith, doubt, and reason in the setting of a modernizing Russia.
Much of the work was written by Dostoevsky at Staraya Russa, which served as the inspiration for the primary setting.
