DJ is a member of The Directors Guild of America and the Authors Guild of America.
Coleman Barks is an acclaimed American poet recognized globally for his translations of Rumi and other Persian mystic poets, which have played a pivotal role in popularizing Rumi in the English-speaking world. Over his career, Barks has authored several bestselling books, including The Essential Rumi and The Soul of Rumi, and has been featured in Bill Moyers' PBS series on poetry. He served thirty years teaching literature and poetry at the University of Georgia. Barks's approachable lyricism in translation has introduced the profound spiritual insights of Sufism to a broad international audience, making him a significant figure in the fields of poetry and translation. Barks now dedicates his time to writing, readings, and performances, often integrating music and dance to bring Rumi's poetry to life.
