The fleet sailed from Troy's burning shore and the real destruction began.
The Sea is the second book in the Return to Ithaca series - the years of the wandering, told from inside the mind of the man surviving them. The Lotus-Eaters and what forgetting actually felt like. The Cyclops's cave and the pride that made him shout his name to a blinded giant and inaugurate a god's sustained hostility. The bag of winds opened within sight of Ithaca's fires. The Laestrygonians destroying eleven ships in a single afternoon. Circe. The underworld. The Sirens bound to the mast. Scylla taking six men while he watched. The cattle of Helios and the sleep he could not prevent himself from taking. The lightning bolt. The wreckage.
One man left. Clinging to a mast in the open ocean. All his men gone.
