About this Item

[FIRST THUS] Boston: Charles Ewer, 1819. Small hardcover bound in full calf leather with gilt-lettered title label on spine. [2], xii, 292 pages. Stated First American Edition (but preceded by: Carlisle [PA]: George Kline, 1797). Watts (1674-1748), was an Independent minister and writer, publishing this work designed for a wide, popular audience. This edition was his Short View of the Whole Scripture History, written in a catechismal question-and-answer form as a simple introduction meant to appeal to the novice reader. Leather is worn and skimmed but remains solid, front blank page partially glued to past-down with institutional stamping, general age-toning and foxing, otherwise a good solid copy of this rare title. (front r,s). Bookseller Inventory # RA-U4YT-CI5A
