FIRST EDITION; NUMBER 45 OF 100 SETS, SIGNED BY WALL ON THE LIMITATION PAGE OF EACH VOLUME. This 85 volume set, uniformly hand-bound by Wall as follows: dark gray cloth backed plain thick gray boards with titles etched to front cover and plain gray dust wrappers with hand-inked etched spine labels with slight sunning to spine panel of dust wrappers for what is a superb set of what was the crowning achievement of Wall's career. Plain gray endpapers with bookplate of the Lincoln Library of Stanley H. Byram on front paste-down and paper-clip indent to FFEP of each volume. Etched throughout by Wall, with some 960 etchings (including covers and etcher's slips), printed in various colored inks on heavy wove paper; nearly all of the full page plates signed by Wall in pencil; on the back of each title page is the penciled notation, "Stanley H. Byram 11 Ap 83 gift." The condition of all the books, dust wrappers and etchings is FINE. RARE; and a spectacular set indeed.
