During the past ten years this book has been somewhat of a collector's item due to its scarcity. Many people have asked me to reprint it and my reply has always been that it is largely out-of-date. Houses have disappeared, some have been moved, and others have new owners. Persuasive forces prevailed, however, and after 20 years I have attempted to revisit the adobes, bungalows, and mansions or Riverside. My sincere thanks to Alan Curl, for His editing, and to all the wonderful people who have willingly shared information and stories about their homes and were so proud to be included in the "red book."
