Item description from seller

8vo. stiff paper wrappers. xxiii, 432 pages. First edition. These family members have culled through over 800 letters written by and to Lee Minker during his training in the Army Air Force leading to his piloting a B-17 flying out of England during World War II. The story is made even more interesting by the well written comments by the editors based on research in government records. Minker flew 37 missions over Germany during his stint in England. Illustrated. His family lived in Wilmington, Delaware, and there is a great deal of information on life in this city while the war was going on. Signed by the three editors.
