Dust jacket is lightly chipped, several small tears repaired with archival tape, no paper loss. Inscribed and dated on front free endpaper by the author. 318pp + 190 full-page plates and index. A comprehensive work, illustrated by maps and text drawings, with an extensive plate section at the end. A clean and crisp copy. Laurence Chalfant Stevens Sickman (1907-1988) was an American academic, art historian, sinologist. He joined the staff of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in 1931, became Curator of Oriental Art in 1935, and served as Director of the Museum from 1953-1977. Size: Royal Octavo.
