The true story of a calico cat who wandered into the Alamo, took up residence and became a celebrity. Newspapers and TV covered the story when she gave birth to 6 kittens, the first felines documented to be born in this sacred citadel of Texas history. Later, she became the unofficial guard of the Alamo grounds, once even defending her friend, an Alamo Ranger against an intruder. She was buried with pomp and ceremony on the grounds and her spirit still watches over this historic church-fortress and the gallant men who died in its defense. Illustrated by the author.
