About this Item
Inscribed First Edition, First Printing of this discussion of alienation in modern society by a Marxist economist who fled Nazi Germany for Alabama. Fritz Pappenheim was a rising economist in Weimar Germany who became a political refugee with the emergence of the Nazi regime and eventually landed with an academic post in Alabama. However, Marxism was a less-than-optimal fit with 1950s Alabama academics and Pappenheim had become a freelance scholar in Cambridge, MA when he penned this volume. Inscribed by Pritz Pappenheim to a previous owner (a Harvard economist) on the front endpaper. 189 pages. Has foxing on the page edges, endpapers, and dust jacket. There are penciled margin notes on about five pages. Seller Inventory # 015475
