First edition, first impression. The first volume of Lees-Milne's celebrated diaries; warmly signed, inscribed and dated (in the year of publication) by the author to the half-title: "For Angela / With best wishes from the author / James Lees-Milne 28.12.75 Oare"; scarce signed. Near Fine: firm and square binding in sharp green cloth; toning and the merest trace of barely perceptible spotting to the edge of the page block; else, bright, crisp and clean. The unclipped dustwrapper is Very Good: bright and vibrant; a little sunning to the spine; mild rubbing/abrasion to the head of the spine; 2cm closed tear to the head of the lower flap fold, sealed to the verso with professional mending tissue; some browning/spotting to the flaps; presented in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover. An attractive copy. All orders are sent very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard.
