246 p. 8vo. Author signed/inscribed at front free endpaper. Publisher's faux black cloth hardcover, gilt title stamped on spine cover, matte black illustrated dust jacket. Measures: 1 W x 5.5 D x 8.5 H inches. About the author and work: Feminist author June Rachuy Brindel delves into history and myth in her novels, including the Pulitzer Prize-nominated "Ariadne," seeking to explore the overlooked women's perspective. Born on a farm in Little Rock, Iowa, Brindel earned her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Chicago. She began writing novels somewhat late in life, having held a variety of jobs (including secretary to a poet laureate) while she was younger. While teaching drama at the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan in 1967, she wrote the play "Automaton: King of Machines" for her students to perform. She lives in Wilmette [Illinois]. As Minos plots against the matriarchy, as famine stalks the mountains and the people grow restive, Ariadne struggles to preserve her religion, her throne, and her life. Bold, handsome Theseus, prince of Athens, appears to offer help: but does he come to save Ariadne or destroy her? CONDITION NOTES: Book condition: Near fine; gently bumped spine crown/heel. Dust jacket condition: Very good +; creased inner front fold, slight edge wear and light scratches effect covers. A beautiful copy. Seller Inventory # 002819
