Original blue cloth with gilt spine lettering, extremely clean and tidy pages, 8 colour plates and 48 full-page b/w photographs and maps, very near fine pictorial dustjacket, not price-clipped. Chapter 16, 'The Summit', is by Sir Edmund Hillary. Together with a copy of the official booklet/programme produced for the subsequent Lecture Tour by members of the team which made the successful first ascent of Everest, original pictorial wraps with photos throughout; plus a copy of The Times First Ascent of Mount Everest Supplement July 1953, with photos throughout, and a Tuesday 2 June 1953 copy of The Daily Mail with Everest ascent headline and a photograph of Edmund Hillary to front page; plus a 2003 50th anniversary The Times/Royal Geographical Society special supplement; and John Hunt's Our Everest Adventure, issued by Brockhampton Press, 1954, in dustjacket with b/w photographs throughout, many of which had not previously been published.
