Small 8vo. Pp. [6], 7-286. Bound in bright red cloth with gilt lettering on spine. In the illustrated dust jacket with price 7/6 intact on front flap. Housed in a blue half-morocco slipcase with five raised bands, compartments of green morocco, gilt lettering stamped on spine, folding chemise with a silk pull. Light fading to spine leather. Inscribed by O'Flaherty on the front free endpaper: "To J. Dixon with affectionate regards from Liam O'Flaherty /6/4/28" Notably well preserved, this copy with the gilt morocco armorial bookplate of "Beach" ("Tout en Bonne Heure"). The dust jacket illustration is a triumph of 1920s design, with the madness of the monomaniacal assassin depicted by a brain as a mess of gears emanating dark energy. Hardcover with dust jacket in morocco slipcase.
