Inscribed and signed by the author to half title page: 'To my friend Mr. and Mrs. Wm. W. Baston with agreeable memories of happy hours in Coleherne Court where this masterpiece was produced. Frederic William Wile, London, April 1916.' Wile was an American journalist, originally with the Chicago Daily News, he moved to London in 1906 and worked at the Daily Mail until the end of the First World War. Very scarce.
