About this Item
Stated First Edition. Limited Edition of 300 Copies. Signed and inscribed by the author, J. Winston Coleman, Jr., on the first front end paper. Also included with this sale are 1) a typed and signed letter to the inscribee, Jack L. Adams, who was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky (and later in his life moved to a town near to me), 2) three signed postcards to Mr. Adams, and 3) a reprinted copy of an article from The Courier Journal of Louisville Kentucky Dated January 2, 1955. The article is titled 'The Squire of Winburn Farm', referring to J. Winston Coleman, Jr. There are also two 8 by 3" flyers with William P. Welsh's portrait of Mr. Coleman on the front and a short biography of the 'Bluegrass Historian And Author' on the back. Finally, there are three stamped envelopes from Mr. Coleman to Mr. Adams, dated 1956, 1957, at 1958. You can see the covers in the photographs provided. They do have some wear which includes a little darkening and rubbing off the bottom edge of the front cover, small tears on the sides of the spine at the bottom, a puncture hole half an inch up from the bottom edge on the rear cover, a small area of rub-through at the bottom right-hand corner of the front, and minor handling soiling. A bump at the top corner of the rear cover has created a small crease at the tip of the top corners of the pages. However, there isn't much else to complain about with regard to the interior of the book. The pages are all very clean. I didn't see any soiling on any of the pages of the text, and the frontispiece and the one other full-page photographic illustration are very clean and in very good condition. There is one small spot on the blank rear end paper and a few light spots on the rear inside cover, very minor. There are no markings in this book. There are no attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Finally, and importantly, the book is very solidly bound, no cracks or spaces anywhere, and nicely tight pages. Seller Inventory # 001729
