Signed and inscribed by author Elizabeth Hazelton "Hazel" Haight, former Vassar professor, author of eleven books, and second female president of the American Philological Association while being the first woman to chair the Advisory Council of the American School of Classical Studies at Rome. The 1954 commencement inscription by Haight is for a Vassar student, and daughter of a faculty member, at Vassar. Loosely laid into this book is a handwritten note with page numbers attributed to certain topics, and people, noted in Matthew Vassar's letters, as well as a Vassar family tree on the reverse. No writing within the book. Book is bright, tight and clean. Blue boards stamped in gold titles on spine, with gilt page edges along top. Light shelf-rubbing at tips. A sound, VG copy, signed and inscribed by author, Hazel Haight.
