Condition: Fine. 1st thus: #687 of a limited edition of 1500, and signed by the illustrator, R. J. Holden, on the limitation page. Cream colored linen boards with sepia-toned illustrations on slightly inset smooth paper plates on the front and back covers, with a wine-colored spine title plate stamped in gilt. The cover edges are shaped inward and the text block is speckled in light tan. With an introduction by Van Wyck Brooks. There is a single very small brown mark on the back cover, and one even smaller and fainter mark on the front, but otherwise the book is immaculate, essentially as-new. Similarly, there is a single dark scuff on the slipcase, the spine is very lightly sunned, and a previous collector's label has been removed, but otherwise it is in Fine condition. A better copy than this would be exceedingly difficult to find. Seller Inventory # 95
