Autograph letter Signed. Full-page letter on The University of Leeds letterhead, measuring 8" x 10½". Two folds for mailing and a bit of light creasing else fine, with the near fine mailing envelope addressed in Hill's hand. Geoffrey Hill writes to invite William Price Turner, Esq. to record a reading of his poetry, a project Hill worked on by arrangement with the British Council and the Harvard University Poetry Room. Turner was a poet, editor, and critic, and the Gregory Fellow in Poetry at the University of Leeds from 1960 to 1962. A biographical essay from The University of Leeds special collections notes that after his fellowship, he stayed in Leeds for several years, working as a sub-editor and then crime fiction reviewer for the *Yorkshire Post* and teaching a creative writing class at Swarthmore Adult Education Centre. The essay states that the recording Hill invited him to produce did in fact occur. According to the essay, Turner "published poetry, reviews and articles (mainly in magazines) throughout his life. He also published six novels, and had plays and poems broadcast, including the libretto *Baldy Bane* written for the BBC in 1967.". Seller Inventory # 533178
