Blue Boards with gilt tiles to spine, 220 x 140 mm approx. 68pp. 24 b/w plates printed on glossy paper as called for. First Edition 1956. Written by a former curator of the Hastings Museums this is a short biography of the founder of St Leonards James Burton and of the town which nestles next to Hastings on the Sussex coast with which it was amalgamated in 1885. The copy offered is signed by the author in ink to the title page Near Fine/ Near Fine (Book- no notable shelf wear, slight fading to tail of spine,light offset browning to end papers, author signature as above, no previous owner name or insc. Dust Jacket- a little rubbed around head with tiny loss- 1 mm approx and very slight discolouration, non price clipped - cover 6/-price clipped, now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve. No other defects to book or jacket).
