Published in 1987 by Black Sparrow Press to coincide with the film, this is the First Hardcover Trade edition of the screenplay for Barfly. There were 500 copies of the First Hardcover Trade edition, but none were distributed signed. Bukowski has signed this copy on the title page and included his trademark Little Man with a Jug sketch. The book comes with the Black Sparrow Press announcement for the book, which Bukowski has also signed. This copy has some spotting on the top of the edge pages but is otherwise in Fine condition. The announcement is also in Fine condition. This copy came from estate of Red Stodolsky, owner Baroque Book Store and a close friend of Charles Bukowski. Bukowski would go by Red s shop regularly and the two would go to lunch at Musso & Frank Grill. But first Bukowski would sit and sign a pile of books for Red to sell. The great thing about these copies is that Bukowski actually held the books as he signed them. With the limited-edition Black Sparrow Books, Bukowski would sign individual pages that were later inserted into the books. File Box 2 and Case 2.
