First French trade edition, text in French. Octavo. Glossy white printed wrappers. Slight toning on wrappers, spine lettering a shade sunned, else fine. Due to political unrest in Greece, Vassilikos was forced into exile and moved to Paris in April of 1967. Inscribed by Vassilikos to author Mary McCarthy and her husband, on the front flyleaf: "For Mary and Jim with my profpound love and [?], Vassili. [?].". Seller Inventory # 537399
