About this Item
First edition, first printing. Signed by C.L.R. James on the front free endpaper. Bound in publisher's original black cloth-affect boards with spine stamped in gilt and white. Near fine with slight splaying to boards, light soiling. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with sunning, soiling and wear, tape repairs made to the verso at the ends of the spine and flap folds. One of the best books ever written on the sport of cricket and also an important work in the development of post-colonial studies. James was a former cricketer and also a Marxist/anti-Stalinist philosopher, decades ahead of his time with his bottom-up approach to popular culture and the political realm.
