First edition, first printing of Rudolfo A. Anaya's first novel, signed by him on the front blank and inscribed, "To Mr. & Mrs. Yeager Sinceramente, [Signed] Rudolfo A. Anaya July, 1973." 248, [1] pp., with black and white full page illustrations. Bound in publisher's black cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Near Fine with light wear to corners and spine ends. In a Near Fine dust jacket, though with sticker shadow over price of $3.75 on rear cover, with light rubbing and edge wear, faint stains to spine and rear panel. A bright signed copy of the author's coming-of-age oft-censored novel, which set the standard for contemporary Chicano and New Mexican literature.
