vii, 178pp, glossary, references, bw & col ills, maps. Or pictorial card. Narrow (2-3mm) damp mark at bottom of first few pages. SIGNED by author on title page. The story of the development of a cattle station at the foot of Shaggy Ridge in PNG, the site of a famous WWII battle from 1943-44. The remnants of the campaign left Dumpu cattle station with a goo airstrip, some wrecked aircraft, bomb holes, some live 25lb artillery shells and souvenirs. A few soldiers recognised a potential for cattle production on the Ramu Valley and proved to be right. Size: Small 4to.
