Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Charcoal cloth is clean. The only thing keeping this book from grading fine is minor lightening to the charcoal hue on the cloth's corner tips and spine edges, from regular shelf-rubbing. Pages and endpapers are bright and clean. A hand-signed Katherine Paterson bookplate is loosely laid in. A perfect addition should you choose to cover the attractive, neatly centered bookplate that is currently on the front endpaper. FWIW, bookplates can easily be lifted if need be, or you can place your own right over it. The incredible DJ is about fine; an absolute beauty; and rare. One of the most sought after titles in children's literature. All flaws are noted. A beautiful first edition, first printing, in its original first state DJ. A plum for any serious collector.
