Item description from seller

The author has inscribed and dated this volume with a poem, The place to loaf-E. Washington, One need not wear a hat;- ("wear a hat" is underlined) At night we hear the whippoorwills, and thro' the day, "Where's Pat?" in holograph on the plain front free end paper after the decorated end papers. The individual to whom the book was inscribed appears to have written her own poem back to him-hand written poem on separate paper laid in. There is another person's book plate affixed to the decorated end paper. The green cloth spine cover has bright gilt lettering, but the spine ends show a bit of wear. There is also gilt lettering and decorations to the green and light green cloth boards. The upper corners are bumped, and the rear corner shows some of the board, however, the lower tips seem sharp and with limited wear. Internally, the 143 pages of verse are clean and without marks. The dyed top edge shows fading.
