A special bargain for Ellroy fans and collectors! Here we have two first editions or Ellroy's groundbreaking first novel for the price of one. The true first is the rare US mass-market edition from Avon Books. This copy is a bit beat up, as pictured, and someone has written a number on the first inside page. But the book is inscribed to important southern CA booksellers with "Dig this 1st 1st!" The second is the first hardcover edition, released two years later by British publisher Allison & Busby. This is a very clean, unread copy, with some fading on the spine, as pictured. An important book in the annals of 20th century crime fiction.

Store description
A bookseller's passion is connecting people with books they'll love. To that end, I try to provide more than just a sales listing, but a description of what makes each book a special and unique item, maybe a little personal history of my relationship with the author, and of course, a detailed accounting of any flaws (hey, I'm a collector, too). I'm a long-time bookseller/author/publisher/editor with almost 40 years of experience in virtually every aspect of the book business, and I'm slowly liquidating my massive personal collection. The books are mostly high-quality modern first editions, primarily in the genres of SF/Fantasy, Horror, Crime/Mystery, Thriller, but assorted other gems as well. For more about my work, you can check my rarely updated website at jeffmariotte.com, and you can always drop me a line through ABE. Thanks for taking a look at my store.…
