Beneath that in pen is the following: "From Gov (?) & Masuka (?) | 4/23/52." 12mo. (19 cm.) v[3]1-268[2]p. Illustrated with one black and white captioned photo of Sekiryushi and three black and white captioned drawings. White paper over boards with black letters on the front cover and the spine. Some wear to extremities with a couple of corners just barely rubbed through, top and bottom of spine just starting to fray, spine darkened, covers somewhat soiled, Kimpei Sheba was managing editor of Nippon Times when this book was written. This book was written so that the reader can see what the Japanese people look like to an insider, Kimpei Sheba. The author "assisted the Strategic Bombing Survey which searched high and low for the minutest detail [about the Japanese]. [He] acted as interpreter for the survey and was astounded how the people [they]questioned told everything they knew. The truth is that we are so constituted that we want to blurt out everything we know to those who rule us." [from the Preface] This volume is an important documentation of the Japanese people as they appeared immediately after WWII by one of their own.
