Rare illuminated manuscript regarding Da Vinciā s master drawing The Head of Christ (c. 1495), the basis for Da Vinciā s depiction of Jesus in The Last Supper. Da Vinci himself considered the drawing so important, he reworked it several times over the course of his life. The text is headed "Art" at the center in liquid gold, flanked by "Revealing the Emotions and the Soul - The Head of Christ by Leonardo Da Vinci". The body of the text flanking the painting describes the image and its meaning. Framed. The entire piece measures 8.75 inches by 10.75 inches. Italian High Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci is widely considered one of the most diversely talented individuals ever to have lived. While his fame initially rested on his achievements as a painter, he also became known for his notebooks, in which he made drawings and notes on science and invention; these involve a variety of subjects including anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, painting, and paleontology. Leonardo's genius epitomized the Renaissance humanist idea, and his collective works compose a contribution to later generations of artists rivalled only by that of his contemporary Michelangelo.
