Item description from seller
First Edition. Softcover / Pictorial Card Wrappers. Octavo. 82 pp. Vibrant magenta card wrappers featuring a central satellite and aerial photo plate of Cape Cod framed by a scalloped border. Illustrated throughout with archival black-and-white photographs, vintage postcards, local landmarks, maritime scenes, and historical commentary.
Signed by the author, local Cape Cod historian and chronicler Noel W. Beyle, on the preliminary page. A solid Very Good copy: clean, tight, and square with a firm binding. The purple card covers show light edge rubbing, minor corner wear, and faint handling marks, but remain vivid with no major creases or tears (no mylar). Interior pages are clean, bright, and completely unmarked throughout, free of marginalia, underlining, or prior ownership markings other than the author's signature.
A scarce piece of regional Massachusetts Americana assembled by beloved Outer Cape author and folklorist Noel W. Beyle. Focusing on the photographic history of the peninsula captured "on film," the volume showcases coastal shipwrecks, local harbors, the target ship SS James Longstreet in Cape Cod Bay, beach culture, and coastal life across Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, and Orleans. A great collectible piece of local New England ephemera.
