Inscribed by author. First limited edition, rebound in brown buckram with gilt title on spine. Some moderate, general wear to boards. Interior is clean, aside from an occasional smudge. 377 pages. A novel of historical fiction, based on the author's real experiences in the West River country of South Dakota during the years 1926-1932, revolving around a ranch near Isabel at the border of Ziebach and Dewey counties. The narrative includes quite a bit of interaction with Sioux characters. Georgia Aydelotte Holden (1896-1983) arrived in the West River country as a young bride in 1919 and got to know survivors of the Indian Wars as well as relatives of the Sioux killed at Wounded Knee.
