Add to basket[spine slightly turned, otherwise a nice clean copy with minimal shelfwear; jacket shows only faint handling wear]. INSCRIBED elaborately and SIGNED by the author on the half-title page; he declares in his inscription (thanking a friend for his support) that this is "the 1st [copy of the book] I'm signing!" The author's first novel, about an "average high-school dork" named Jeremy, whose life is changed when he gets a "squip," described as "a supercomputer in pill form [which] communicates directly with your brain to make you Cool. [It] transforms Jeremy from a complete geek into a member of the social elite," with hot chicks hanging all over him, and so forth. "But Jeremy discovers that there is a dark side to handing over control of your life -- and it can have disastrous consequences." The book was adapted into a musical play that was first presented at a regional theatre in New Jersey in 2015; a short but successful off-Broadway run in 2018 was followed by its Broadway debut in March 2019, which ran for 177 performances. It has subsequently been staged in London, Tokyo and Amsterdam; a proposed film adaptation was announced in 2018, but apparently went nowhere. Signed copies seem to be exceptionally uncommon; in fact, at the moment of cataloging this is the only one offered online. The author, alas, who had suffered from depression, committed suicide in 2013. Signed by Author.
