Maidstone is a key historical locale near Kent in the southeast of England. Green boards with black titles and Rackham design of Cinderella on stool w/broom, brown cloth spine wrap, moderate shelf wear, some corner bump. Sharp black impressed spine titles with falling mice vignette. Deep green front and back endpapers with white silhouette spread of dancing ball attendees. Beautiful hand made deckled leaves, very good, clean; few with enigmatic shadowing of illustrations from adjacent, preceding or verso. Smooth cut at top edge. Tipped-in frontispiece with tissue guard present. Bind fine; hinges intact. Stylish vintage signature front blank endpaper: "Brenda and Stella Wickham." Includes a beige matte wrapper with clipping of original green illustration mounted at center with original titles and Cinderella on stool with broom. Rare near very good signed example of this limited edition. Illustrated throughout by Arthur Rackham in a unique silhouette style; features b&w and several silhouettes decorated in red, gold, and black. Includes one additional full-page illustration of Cinderella standing before giant orange pumpkin that would become the carriage. Several full-page spreads over two pages.
